Bio Sketch

Adam Pittman is a third generation missionary from Curitiba, Brazil. He was born on October 30, 1987 to Steve and Georgianne who were at the time on deputation, going to Brazil. He grew up hearing the Gospel and knew at an early age that he was a sinner. It just had never become a personal choice that he had made. It was at the age of five that Adam trusted the Lord as his Savior and then followed in believer’s baptism by immersion one year later. He was heavily involved in his parent’s ministry in Brazil until in 2002, the Lord directed his parents back to the United States.

On August 23, 1988, God placed Jodi into the home of Pastor and Mrs. James Sechrest. Hearing the gospel from the day she was brought home from the hospital, gave her an early understanding that she was a sinner before God and needed a Savior. At the age of four, Jodi accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior and knows for sure that in September, 1992 she was adopted into the family of God. At the age of six, Jodi’s family moved to West Jefferson, North Carolina where her Father again, served as Senior Pastor. Fortunately, while living at home, Jodi was taught the Word of God and how that applied to ministry and the home. She experienced early on the struggles and great blessing the ministry brought.

It was in High School that the Lord called Adam into full time ministry. A missionary was presenting at the school and he gave a challenge to the kids about surrendering their lives to ministry. It was from the missionary’s message that Adam surrendered his life to go where ever the Lord led. After high school, Adam attended Piedmont Baptist College where he enrolled in the Missions program. God used short term mission trips during this time to direct Adams heart to foreign missions. Upon completing his junior year of college, he transferred to Grace Baptist Bible College in Winston Salem, NC where he received his B.A. in Biblical Studies with a Missions Concentration.

Jodi was Homeschooled from first through twelfth grade. Completing the required High School credits one year early, Jodi began her college career on her seventeenth birthday. Jodi attended Piedmont Baptist College in Winston Salem, North Carolina where she answered God’s call for her life to full time ministry. There, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Biblical Studies with a Missions minor. It was during the summer of Jodi’s sophomore year of college that she took a short term missions trip with Team China. It was during this trip that God burdened Jodi’s heart for foreign Missions.

Having grown up in Brazil and speaking Portuguese fluently, Adam began seeking the possibility of returning to Brazil as missionary. After a short survey trip to Brazil in 2012, Adam and Jodi both knew God was closing that door. Soon after, they learned of a plea from a national pastor in the Dominican Republic asking for Missionaries to come and start Baptist churches in the provinces where there are none. The Pittmans left for the DR in August, 2015 where they were met by their teammates, Brandon and Regina Bell. The Pittmans are one of five couples making up the ministry team in Puerto Plata, DR. God opened the door in 2017 for the DR team to lead Iglesia Bautista Vista al Mar. They have seen people come and go, others saved and now involved in discipleships, kids ministries established, and consistent visitors even during a pandemic. God has gifted Adam with leadership, music and teaching abilities, as well as ministry experience with short term mission trips, discipleship, youth and music ministry. God has gifted Jodi in evangelism, encouragement and teaching. Her ministry experience includes short term mission trips, discipleship, music and singing. The Pittmans are so thankful for the ministry heritage God gave them and are striving to raise the next generation with the same passion.
